CONCEPT OF SCHLEMPF
is a mix between to different game-style. First, the adventure games,
in wich you live in a world an you've got to interact with other people,
to get new items, etc. The people around you can give (or sell) you some
objects, or just employ you.
The other part of Schlempf is a life-simulation game, like a tamagochi,
in wich you've got to take care of you're schlempf, give him to eat and
making him work when you're not playing. Your schlempf can do a lot of
differents activities, as fisching, sleeping, working at the factory, at
the hotel, etc. When you stop the game, your schlempf continues until
you play again.
Schlempf was designed by Francois-Xavier Aeberhard for the Logiquest contest, sponsorised by SunMicroSystems
and Swisscom AG. It is based on MIDP 2.0. Since this contest is finished,
I'd like to promote my game and go on with the developpement of this project.
Schlempf is not only a stupid game without meaning, it is a parody of
the third-world, trying to show how difficult it is to live there. It
uses humour to approach difficult subjects, as the problem of the multinationals
company's effect on local culture or the the debt. The point is to ally
a maximum of fun when playing, and a part of real life experience. I think,
this is a good idea, because more and more people are affected (and interested)
by the globalisation's consequences.
